Eco Counselling

Nature-Based Therapy to Reconnect with your Authentic Self

Eco counselling is an experiential, sensory approach to therapy. Sessions are often held outdoors or in wilderness. Mother Nature provides the healing place for you. Deep Ecology educators refer to ‘the cells in our bodies having evolved from millions of years spent in a rainforest before becoming a human cell’. To find meaning from interacting with the natural environment and recognising our mutual inter-dependence, that we need each other to breathe, brings with it a greater appreciation for the wonder and cycles of life itself. Eco-Therapy involves all your senses. Immense benefits of sitting in silence or stillness, breathwork, journalling, guided meditations, walks in bushland, creating mandalas or artwork in nature, or simply observing wildlife, are well-documented practices that promote healing, self-awareness and inner peace. This is an opportunity to share your concerns and discuss experiences, events, relationships and challenges and focus on self-care while being held in emotional resonance with your surroundings. I provide a safe, compassionate, therapeutic relationship. Eco-counselling can also take place indoors connecting with natural forms of life like plants, flowers, rocks, fossils, wood, shells, using visuals, art, textures, smells, natural materials. In today’s society, where we live with ever-increasing populations, rapid change and modernisation, and constant threat of climate change, a new Eco-anxiety has emerged.

If you’re feeling the impact of fatigue or struggling with a disconnect from yourself and others, a new way of being can be found.
